Coming This Fall of 2025....

LifeQuest’s mission is to promote healthful longevity and active aging through lifelong learning and meaningful volunteerism in the community. LifeQuest is an affiliate of Aging Forward (formerly Shepherds Centers of America), and is the largest lifelong learning program in the network.
The idea of a Conway-based LifeQuest program originated in October 2024, when Dr. Rock Jones—consultant to Hendrix College President Dr. Karen Petersen—requested a meeting with Leah Greenfield, Executive Director of LifeQuest, to explore the possibility of establishing a LifeQuest satellite campus in Conway. While the initial concept centered around Hendrix, it was soon agreed that, logistically, a congregation like First United Methodist Church (First UMC) would be more suitable for the physical location for classes.
Subsequent conversations with Rev. Nathan Kilbourne, Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Conway, proved productive. The church emerged as a strong potential partner for hosting the program. In March 2025, the Executive Committee of the LifeQuest Board of Directors met with Dr. Petersen, Rock Jones, Nathan Kilbourne, and other Hendrix and community leaders to discuss the idea in greater depth. Dr. Petersen shared her commitment to and future vision for strengthening ties between Hendrix College and the wider Conway community. A shared decision was made to move forward in exploring the development of a lifelong learning initiative, modeled after LifeQuest of Arkansas. A steering committee was formed and things have started to take shape.
